چکیده

Microphone arrays provide new opportunities for noise reduction and speech enhancement. This paper presents a novel decomposition of the estimation problems for short-time spectral amplitude (STSA), log STSA, and phase in the Bayesian estimation framework. The decomposition is based on the notion of sufficient statistics for the microphone array case. It nicely generalizes the wellknown single-channel Ephraim-Malah estimators [4, 5] to the microphone array case. We also compare noise reduction obtained in the single channel with the twoand four-channel cases on real data.

Multichannel speech enhancement using Bayesian spectral amplitude estimation

This paper introduces two shon-time spectral amplitude estimators for speech enhancement with multiple microphones. Based on joint Gaussian models of speech and noise Fourier coefficients the clean speech amplitudes are estimated with respect to the MMSE or the MAP criterion. The estimators outperform single microphone minimum mean square amplitude estimators when the speech is highly correlate...

Distributed multichannel speech enhancement with minimum mean-square error short-time spectral amplitude, log-spectral amplitude, and spectral phase estimation

In this paper, the authors present optimal multichannel frequency domain estimators for minimum mean-square error (MMSE) short-time spectral amplitude (STSA), log-spectral amplitude (LSA), and spectral phase estimation in a widely distributed microphone configuration. The estimators utilize Rayleigh and Gaussian statistical models for the speech prior and noise likelihood with a diffuse noise f...

Generalized multi-microphone spectral amplitude estimation based on correlated noise model

Enhancing speech contaminated by uncorrelated additive noise, when the degraded speech alone is available, has received much attention. In recent years many systems have used multi-microphone arrays for the task of speech enhancement and robust speech recognition. In this paper we introduce a generalized multi-microphone spectral amplitude estimation approach based on a model with non-negligibl...

Speech Enhancement Using Gaussian Mixture Models, Explicit Bayesian Estimation and Wiener Filtering

Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs) of power spectral densities of speech and noise are used with explicit Bayesian estimations in Wiener filtering of noisy speech. No assumption is made on the nature or stationarity of the noise. No voice activity detection (VAD) or any other means is employed to estimate the input SNR. The GMM mean vectors are used to form sets of over-determined system of equatio...

A generalized estimation approach for linear and nonlinear microphone array post-filters

This paper presents a robust and general method for estimating the transfer functions of microphone array post-filters, derived under various speech enhancement criteria. For the case of the mean square error (MSE) criterion, the proposed method is an improvement of the existing McCowan post-filter, which under the assumption of a known noise field coherence function uses the autoand cross-spec...
